    You notice dropped frames during playback of h264 video or MKV files in 720p HD or 1080p Full HD? Here's how to properly configure the VLC video player for not having to jerk and play fluidly videos, even on somewhat aged equipment.

===> In VLC, click the Tools menu and then Preferences.

===> In the left column, click Read & codecs.

===> Make sure the box Use hardware GPU acceleration is checked.

===> Scroll down the list Disable the H.264 loop filter and select the All option.
    Bottom left, in Parameters, select the All option.

===> Click the Advanced pane.

===> In the Performance Options box, check the boxes Only allow one instance, One instance when started from file and increase the priority of the process.

===> Then pull down the section Read / Codecs, Video Codecs and click x264.

===> Unroll the H.264 Profile list and select the Main option.

===> Finally, click Save. The Full HD video playback should not be a problem now.
